Chengdu Could Not, Would Not, Fall Asleep

by Barney Saltzberg

I love the art in this book! The color palettes and patterns are soft, subtle, and lovely. The artist does fun things with the physical pages, too, playing with length, how the pages overlay each other, how they fold out. But honestly this book would have been a perfect little story without that added extra. This art style is quite different than Saltzberg’s Beautiful Oops! or Arlo Needs Glasses. Fun new offering.
